After the events of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, we were brought back into the lives of Ben, Darius, Brooklynn, Sammy, Kenji, and Yaz (collectively known as the Nublar Six) via Chaos Theory. Brooklynn had apparently died while trying to bring down a dinosaur trafficking ring that had its tentacles spread all across the world. With Brooklynn out of the picture, a mysterious entity known only as the Broker was going after the rest of the Nublar Six with the intention of killing them. Given how the Department of Prehistoric Wildlife (DPW) was in cahoots with the Broker, the Nublar Six was adamant about getting to the bottom of this nexus and avenging Brooklynn. So, at the end of the first season of the show, the Nublar Six boarded a cargo ship that was headed towards somewhere that was pivotal to the Broker. In Season 2, that location was revealed to be Senegal, where the Broker was breeding new dinosaurs after capturing the preexisting ones. At the end of season 1, we found out that Brooklynn was alive. She’d spent the entirety of Season 2 tracking down the Broker, who was revealed to be a woman named Santos, and getting into her good books. That led Brooklynn to Senegal too, and her reunion with her old friends was unlike what any of the Nublar Six expected. What was the end result of their meeting? Let’s find out.
Spoiler Alert
Brooklynn Gained Santos’ Trust
Soyona Santos, the Broker, was in the business of cooking up dinosaurs in order to meet audience expectations. She first showed up in Jurassic World: Dominion running a dino-smuggling ring in Malta where she ran into Owen Grady and Claire Dearing. She had partnered with the DPW to find her footing, but the DPW ended up being quite inefficient. So, she set up a laboratory in Senegal headed by one Dr. Sarr because the location was discreet and nobody really cared what was happening with dinosaurs in such a remote place on the planet. But Dr. Sarr ended up being a handful, as he sacrificed the entire operations and management team in the lab to feed his brand of Baryonyx. Sarr’s megalomania had reached such dizzying heights that he wanted to feed Santos to the monster as well. However, since Brooklynn needed to know the extent to which Santos had spread her dino-creating business, she saved Santos from getting chomped to death by the Baryonyx and won her trust. To cement her relationship with Santos even further, Brooklynn took the case full of dino eggs from Ben and delivered it to Santos so that she wouldn’t cast doubt on Brooklynn, thereby allowing her to keep in touch with Ronnie and the Nublar Six. Santos returned these favors of Brooklynn’s when Sarr and his Baryonyx cornered the women by setting her Atrociraptor on Sarr.
The Nublar Six Was in Disbelief
Ben, Darius, Sammy, Kenji, and Yaz weren’t exactly expecting to reunite with Brooklynn while trying to save Zayna’s dino-friend, Geba, and retrieving the case with Bumpy’s egg in it. So, they were surprised to not only find out that Brooklynn was alive (albeit she was missing an arm), but also working with the primary antagonist of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2, Santos. Darius, Sammy, Yaz, and Zayna didn’t realize that Brooklynn was the one who’d secretly saved them from getting eaten up by the Baryonyx. Kenji was particularly angry because Brooklynn was his girlfriend, and he was livid that Ben knew she was alive, yet he didn’t say anything. Yes, Ben was secretly talking to Brooklynn via the Dinosaur Liberation Now (DLN) website, but he chose to say nothing to the rest of his friends for some reason. Sure, Brooklynn told him to not say anything to the Nublar Six about her survival for their safety, but how did their obliviousness about her survival change anything? This particular animated franchise has a habit of having one infuriating subplot in every season, and this was it.
Brooklynn Parted Ways With The Nublar Six
After witnessing Sarr’s death at the hands of the Baryonyx and the Atrociraptor, Santos planned to destroy the Senegal dino-making plant and start afresh with her collaboration with Biosyn (which was hinted at in Jurassic World: Dominion). I heard the name of Biosyn for the first time in Jurassic World: Dominion. Yes, its CEO, Dr. Lewis Dodgson, was doing all that nonsense with the giant locusts and was also exploiting dinosaurs. By the end of that film, Ellie, Alan, Ian, and Ramsay testified against Biosyn, and the United Nations shut down the company. Dodgson ended up biting the dust, and the dinosaur embryos that Dennis Nedry had stolen from Isla Nublar, which were in Dodgson’s possession, got lost in all the scuffle. So, it’s a mystery how Biosyn is still active enough to fund Santos’ diabolical plans. Anyway, at the end of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 2, Santos tried to get the Nublar Six killed with the help of the Baryonyx and the Atrociraptor. Brooklynn managed to give Santos the slip and help her old friends escape the facility before Santos hit the detonation button. Zayna’s father arrived, and the Nublar Six boarded his Jeep to go after Santos, Brooklynn, and the dino eggs that were in their possession. They did catch up with her, and Kenji made one last attempt at making sure that Brooklynn hadn’t gone over to the proverbial Dark Side. That said, Brooklynn was clearly too committed to her mission of unearthing the nexus between Santos and Biosyn. So, she parted ways with the Nublar Six and flew off with Santos. Brooklynn did hand Bumpy’s egg back to the Nublar Six, but was that enough to convince the Nublar Six that she wasn’t the enemy? We’ll find out in Season 3.
Season 3 Expectations
I think my number one expectation from the inevitable Season 3 of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is for it to be good. This franchise has everything that every other canceled Netflix IP dreams of having. They have the budget. They have the freedom of making 10 bloody episodes. They have a dedicated fanbase that’ll gobble up anything that they’re given (I mean Jurassic World: Dominion made a billion dollars at the box office despite being one of the worst movies of all time). So, why can’t they put all of these elements to good use and just make at least one brilliantly animated season filled with compelling human drama and jaw-dropping dino action? I don’t know. Coming to the plot-related stuff, I’m sure the third season will be all about Biosyn, and how they’ve survived after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion. I guess we’ll get to know more about Santos’ origins because we’ve been kept in the dark regarding her backstory. She’ll be monitoring every move of Brookylnn, so I don’t think she’ll be able to secretly talk to Ronnie or anyone from the Nublar Six as freely as she was doing before. So, it’ll be interesting to see how she comes up with a plan to take down the dino-exploitation nexus spread all across the globe without any help. I suppose the Nublar Six are going to build their base in Senegal with the help of Zayna and her father, who clearly know a lot about dinosaurs. The Nublar Six will need to solve their inner conflicts in the process too because the revelation about Brooklynn’s survival has completely shaken them up. But these are just my theories about the show. Feel free to share your thoughts on what you want to see in season 3 in the comments below.
